New Abia Police Chief Pledges To Use Technology To Hunt Criminals

Danladi Isa has resumed as Abia State's Commissioner of Police in Umuahia, pledging to leverage intelligence and technology to identify and apprehend criminals in the region.


His appointment comes after the Police Service Commission approved the appointment of four substantive Commissioners of Police for the commands in Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi, and Akwa Ibom States.


During his handover from former Police Commissioner Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, on Wednesday he also vowed to promote peace in Abia, foster a supportive environment, and work with all stakeholders to ensure stability.


Isah highlighted the importance of utilizing technology and intelligence in operations to effectively address modern crime, allowing law enforcement to prevent offenses before they occur and improve safety and security within the community.


The Police Commissioner also stated the importance of collaboration with sister security agencies and community support for his success in Abia. He pledged to be fair, impartial, and accessible to the residents of Abia.


Isah cautioned the officers in the Command about the serious consequences of engaging in corrupt practices. He made it clear that any officer found participating in unprofessional conduct would be subject to strict disciplinary actions.


He emphasized the importance of integrity and high ethical standards within the force, stating his commitment to eliminating corruption to build community trust and ensure the police effectively fulfil their duty to serve and protect.


"Officers must understand that there will be no tolerance for wrongdoing, and accountability will be enforced at all levels", he said.


He also pledged to uphold human rights throughout his time as Commissioner of Police.


The Abia police chief expressed his gratitude to the former Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, for his accomplishments during his tenure. He acknowledged the groundwork laid by Onwuemelie and pledged to build upon those successes to create a more peaceful and crime-free Abia.


Isah mentioned his commitment to continuing the positive initiatives already in place, aiming to enhance safety and security in the state. By reinforcing existing efforts and introducing new strategies, he hopes to foster an environment where residents feel secure.

Recall that, On June 6, 2024, the Police Service Commission (PSC) appointed Kogi-born Isa Danladi Nda as the Commissioner in charge of SWAT and the FCID before his appointment as Abia State Commisioner of Police.
